Analytical Services, Inc. (ASI) is a full-service, TNI/NELAC accredited environmental microbiology laboratory located in Williston, Vermont.
Founded in 1993, we have served public water suppliers, wastewater/biosolid practitioners, and consultants/engineers/governmental entities with microbiological testing, research, and consulting services for more than 30 years. We are proud of our service record and the longstanding relationships we have developed with many clients.
In 2014, ASI became part of the IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group, Inc., with corporate headquarters located in Lake Forest Park, WA. While ASI’s laboratory is still located in Williston, VT, joining IEH has increased our technical expertise, analytical capabilities, laboratory capacity and resources, especially with respect to molecular microbiology.
ASI is nationally recognized as an expert laboratory for protozoa analysis and has provided Cryptosporidium and Giardia to clients throughout the Information Collection Rule (ICR) compliance period and Rounds 1 and 2 of the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2). ASI has been involved in EPA-sponsored protozoa research projects, including the USEPA’s multi-laboratory validations of EPA Method 1693, Method 1623.1, Method 1623, and Method 1622. ASI routinely analyzes source water, finished water, reclaimed water (water reuse) samples for the presence of Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
ASI provides Legionella testing services to health care facilities, nursing homes, water treatment providers and consultants, corporate clients, laboratories, and governmental entities throughout the eastern U.S. We also assist clients with review of their Water Management Plans and currently analyze thousands of Legionella samples per year.
In addition, ASI has a long history of providing virology testing services to clients throughout the U.S., including the Information Collection Rule (ICR) back in the late 1990s and continuing through today. ASI’s virology section routinely analyzes water, wastewater and biosolids samples for viruses, using both traditional cell culture methods and molecular techniques (qPCR). ASI is currently involved in Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) and Indirect Potable Reuse (IPR), including aquifer storage and recharge (ASR), projects that involve advanced microbiological monitoring.
We designed and built our facility in 1995 specifically for use as a testing laboratory, separate and dedicated sections sample preparation and analyses, biosafety and laminar flow hoods, separate rooms for cell culture propagation vs. inoculation, redundant incubators, water baths, refrigerators, and freezers (including two -70oC units). ASI’s facilities, equipment, highly trained staff, and rigorous adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and our Quality Assurance Manual allow us to provide high quality, defensible data in a timely and cost effective manner.
